Title: Manager im Deutschunterricht und Studenten in Unternehmen. Erfahrungen mit einem fachbezogenen Projektunterricht
Description: Project teaching in the teaching of professional German in Slovakia represents an attempt to bring a new educational concept to universities. The article is focused on a pilot project which has been carried out in co-operation: the participants were students of company business and German-speaking managers who work in various joint-venture companies in Slovakia. The project entailed an invitation to a manager who was subsequently present in a German class. The manager's presence included his/her written presentation of a business-related problem, a discussion with the students and, as the concluding phase, the students were invited to visit the particular company. The purpose of the whole process was to enable the students to encounter the foreign factor within their own, domestic social-cultural framework. Such an experience brings a certain shift in the perception of the foreign and the different, sensitizing the participants to a level which is desirable with regards to social contacts in their future careers. This article further analyzes the evaluation of the project. The evaluation included a questionnaire and the questions were focused on the organization of the project, on foreign-language competence acquisition, on educational effects in intercultural learning and on a general evaluation of the whole project. It should be noted that the ideas of the participating students are very inspiring.2013-05-30T00:00:00ZInterpreting successful lingua-franca interaction. Title: Interpreting successful lingua-franca interaction. An analysis of non-native-/non-native small talk conversation in English
Description: In the last few decades, English has become the most widely spread global lingua franca. Being used as a means of communication by non-native speakers of different linguistic and cultural background, norms for the use of lingua franca English cannot be negotiated and established as with a traditional speech community. After explaining the characteristics of 'small talk' produced by speakers using lingua franca English, this paper offers methods of analysis and interpretation which address the specific character of lingua franca data.2013-05-30T00:00:00ZFokusdomäne von Gradpartikeln im Deutschen und Russischen

Title: Fokusdomäne von Gradpartikeln im Deutschen und Russischen
Description: This article deals with the groups of scalar focus particles (grading particles=Gradpartikeln) in German and Russian. The aim is to provide a rough overview of similarities and differences in the syntax of 'sogar/dazhe' groups. The method is to use the term 'focus domain' (in the sense of Selkirk 1995) for internal sentence scope of a grading particle (instead of only 'focus' or only 'scope'). Focus domain is a structure sequence, which unites syntax and prosody. With this option it is possible to pay more attention to some colloquial types of constructions with grading particles. One remarkable result of this study is the fact that Russian usually regulates the position of a grading particle with prosodic criteria, while German has syntactic rules regarding the first position.2013-05-30T00:00:00ZZur Bedeutung von 'geschweige (denn)'
http://dspace.mediu.edu.my:8181/xmlui/handle/123456789/6214
Title: Zur Bedeutung von 'geschweige (denn)'
Description: The german conjunctor 'geschweige' - with or without a following 'denn' - mostly appears with a negative first connect, more seldom with an affirmative first connect. The article presents a hypothesis about a specific way how one may understand both appearances of 'geschweige (denn)' as one and the same logical connection. Moreover there is a suggestion about the analysis of the uses of 'geschweige (denn)' with a negative first conjunct quite common at present.<br> Der deutsche Konnektor 'geschweige' wird - mit nachfolgendem oder ohne nachfolgendes 'denn' - vorwiegend mit negativem erstem Konnekt, viel seltener mit affirmativem erstem Konnekt verwendet.
