[EN] This article explores the increasing diversification with regard to the plurality of identities and cultures within the contemporary societies as well as the tendency to ethnify and/or culturalize social conflicts. In this context, searching for a conception of common life which permits the configuration of a collective identity able to integrate the mentioned differences, some arguments will be developed in favour of the civic alternative represented by republicanism.
