| Keywords: | Genetyc correlations Maize Zea mays L. Earliness Landraces |
| Description: | Additive correlations are presented between pollen shedding and silking and twelve agronomic traits, including yield components in two maize landraces from Northwestern Spain in order to determine if it is possible to obtain early maize varieties while maintaining yield. High positive correlations were found between days to flowering and plant and ear height an ear length. Yield and most of the yield components are low correlated with days to flowering. It is concluded that is possible to obtain early varieties without depression in yield, but plant and ear height would diminish and caution must be taken with lodging. Peer reviewed |
