Description: A classification of 66 maize populations recollected in Asturias, in the North of Spain, is reported. Eighteeen plant, ear and grain traits were considered. Based on cluster analysis, eight groups were established with all the studied Asturian populations. Description of the groups is reported. These grouping was analized through multivariate analysis, being the kernel characteristics the traits with more influence on the classification. The first two canonical discriminant functions explain 75.7 % of the differences between populations.
