| Description: | In dem vorliegenden Beitrag wird die Hypothese der Mismatch-Arbeitslosigkeit anhand von qualifikationsspezifischen Beveridge-Kurven für Westdeutschland untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen dabei, dass das Mismatch für die Gruppe der Geringqualifizierten sehr viel höher ist als für die Gruppe der Qualifizierten und sich dieses Mismatch in den letzten Jahren stark erhöht hat. Für diesen Sachverhalt werden motivatorische Gründe angeführt. Der Abbau der hohen Vakanzquote innerhalb der Gruppe der Geringqualifizierten könnte zu einer Senkung der Gesamtarbeitslosenquote um gut einen halben Prozentpunkt führen. This paper deals with the hypothesis of mismatch unemployment in West Germany by calculating skills-specific Beveridge curves. The results show that the mismatch for the group of unskilled is much higher than for the group of skilled and that this mismatch has increased in the last years. The specific Beveridge curves point to motivation problems as reasons for this mismatch. By reducing the high vacancy rate for the group of unskilled the total unemployment rate may be decreased by 0.5 percentage points. |
