dc.description	This paper deals with the weakening process of the phoneme R in final coda position, in Rio de Janeiro dialect. Following labovian quantitative approach, three sets of data are compared, in order to present a case-study in apparent time and real time, through a panel and a trend study. It is shown that final R deletion follows age grading pattern and cannot be considered a change in progress.	-
