| dc.description | The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of LC administration on lactateaccumulation in different time courses during recovery from incremental exercise in activemale subjects. Methodology: The subjects were 12 randomly selected active male physicaleducation students; 21.75±0.64 years old; with a mean body mass index (BMI) of 23.7±0.94kg/m2.They received orally either 2g of L-carnitine or a placebo (6 ml lemon juice dissolved in200 ml water) 90 minutes before they began exercise on treadmill. They performed a modifiedprotocol of Conconi test to exhaustion. Plasma lactate concentrations were recorded at rest andimmediately; 2; 5 and 8 minutes after the test. One-way analysis of variance with repeatedmeasurements and paired t-test were used for data analysis. Results: lactate concentrations inLC group decreased at 0;2;5;8 minutes after exercise by 32; 43; 40 and 37 percent comparedplacebo group; respectively. Discussion: These findings indicate that acute administration of LCcan accelerate recovery from incremental exercise in active males. | - |
