Description: Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR) is a defense response by plants to the local presence and activity of a variety of biotic and abiotic agents. Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) elicits defensive response by the plant to the pathogen presence. It causes the production of specific substances including pathogenesis related proteins. In recent years the concept of induced resistance has attracted much attention as a possible strategy in integrated plant disease management. The present study focuses on the extraction and assay of pathogenesis related proteins including Phenylalanine ammonia lyase, Polyphenol oxidase and Peroxidase. The activities of the pathogenesis related proteins in Vigna mungo plants treated with the isolated strain Pseudomonas fluorescens Os25, the phytopathogens including Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia bataticola and Pseudomonas fluorescens Os25 inoculated plants grown in phytopathogen amended soils were measured. The production of Phenylalanine ammonia lyase, Polyphenol oxidase, Peroxidase was more in all the treated plants of V. mungo as compared to the uninoculated control.
