dc.descriptionThe Sparta was built at Cleveland, Ohio in 1874 and was used to carry iron ore for the Cleveland Iron Mining company. Bought by N. Mills and D. W. Mills in 1907, she was renamed. She is shown here on the Welland Canal, a 27-mile-long canal connecting Port Colborne, Ontario on Lake Erie to Port Weler, Ontario on Lake Ontario. The David W. Mills was wrecked in Lake Ontario August 11, 1919.-
