The North Side Dock on Kelleys Island was elevated and equipped with pockets and chutes. A steam locomotive pulled carloads of stone across the top of the dock, and the stone was unloaded into pockets when a barge or steamer tied up to take on stone; chutes were lowered so that stone dropped into the barges. This photograph shows three chutes lowered and seven raised.-
