dc.description	This paper is a compendium of the ideas and issues presented at the Chatham Bars Workshop on Office Semantics. The intent of the workshop was to examine the state of the art in office systems and to elucidate the issues system designers were concerned with in developing next generation office systems. The workshop involved a cross-section of people from government, industry and academia. Presentations in the form of talks and video tapes were made of prototypical systems.
