dc.description This paper presents a bug understanding system, called sniffer, which applies inspection methods to generate a deep understanding of a narrow class of errors. Sniffer is an interactive debugging aide. It can locate and identify error-containing implementations of typical programming clich鳬 and it can describe them using the terminology employed by expert programmers.
